Olden Era Patch 0.82.08 and 0.82.07 Hotfix Notes — Resource Riches, Medusa Queen, Creature Banks and Sprint

By OldenEra.gg Staff

Two hotfixes have followed patch 0.82.06 in Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. 0.82.07 went live on 30 October 2026 and 0.82.08 on 4 November 2026 (Steam build 26428102). Neither is a balance update on 0.82.06's scale, but between them they reverse one law change, cut back one of Dungeon's new abilities, retune six ranked templates and fix where battle-site guards stand when a fight begins.

The game database on this site has been rebuilt from build 26428102, so every unit, law, battle-site and template page already shows the current numbers, and the faction and template guides have been revised to match. Below is every change, with the numbers before and after.

Patch 0.82.07 and 0.82.08 at a glance

  • Resource Riches I, II and III cost 1, 2 and 3 Law Seals again, for every faction (0.82.08). Patch 0.82.06 had raised them to 2, 3 and 4.
  • The Medusa Queen's Hail of Arrows deals half the damage and costs 2 Focus instead of 3 (0.82.07).
  • Five creature banks have bigger guards: the Colosseum, the Tomb of Vigilance, Boreal Call, the Carrion Pile and the Petrified Memorial (0.82.07).
  • Artifact guards on random maps are 20% below their original strength rather than 40% (0.82.07).
  • Battle-site guards start the fight where they are meant to again; 22 of the 27 battle sites have a different starting formation (0.82.07).
  • Jebus Cross needs a six-day City Hold again (0.82.07).
  • Sprint lost its Pathfinder heroes and got Scouting back (0.82.07), then weaker passage guards, no rivers, no Mercenary Guild and pre-built dwellings in two outposts (0.82.08).
  • Blitz faction dwellings start with double growth (0.82.07), and the starting area's outer dwellings sit by the road (0.82.08).
  • Computer opponents cast Global Map Spells more or less often depending on difficulty (0.82.08).

Balance changes

Resource Riches is back to 1/2/3 Law Seals

In Unfrozen's words: "The enactment cost of the 'Resource Riches I', 'Resource Riches II', and 'Resource Riches III' laws has been reduced back to the previous values for all factions: 2/3/4 → 1/2/3." What each law gives did not change.

Resource Riches I law icon
Resource Riches I: "Provides a one‑time allotment of 2500 Gold, 5 Wood, and 5 Ore when enacted."
Law Gives, once Cost in 0.82.06 Cost now
Resource Riches I 2,500 Gold, 5 Wood, 5 Ore 2 Seals 1 Seal
Resource Riches II 5,000 Gold, 10 Wood, 10 Ore 3 Seals 2 Seals
Resource Riches III 7,500 Gold, 15 Wood, 15 Ore 4 Seals 3 Seals

For most builds that makes Resource Riches I a one-Seal day-1 law again, as it was before 0.82.06. Each faction's table, with the new prices: Temple · Necropolis · Dungeon · Grove · Hive · Schism.

Medusa Queen: Hail of Arrows halved

Medusa Queen, Dungeon's tier-5 alternative upgrade
The Medusa Queen, Dungeon's tier‑5 alternative upgrade.

Hail of Arrows was one of the Focus actives 0.82.06 gave Dungeon, and the first to be cut back. The game's text now reads: "Select 3 target(s) for this attack. The attack deals 50% of basic attack Damage ([ 7–8.5 × amount of units ]) to the targets, and half that Damage to all the enemies adjacent to the targets."

Hail of Arrows 0.82.06 0.82.07
Damage to the 3 targets 100% of a basic attack (14–17 per unit) 50% of a basic attack (7–8.5 per unit)
Damage to adjacent enemies half of that half of that
Focus cost 3 2
Cooldown 3 rounds 2 rounds

The notes mention the damage and the cost; the shorter cooldown is in the files. It is now a cheap spread shot rather than a second full attack, and the Medusa Sculptor remains the usual pick. The Dungeon guide has the Queen-or-Sculptor choice with the new numbers.

Creature banks: bigger guards

0.82.06 raised every creature bank's guard. 0.82.07 raised five of them again, by up to seven creatures per stack. The four numbers are the bank's four sizes, smallest to largest; the reward did not change.

Bank Guard, per stack 0.82.06 Now Reward
Colosseum Griffins 11 / 19 / 25 / 30 11 / 19 / 26 / 31 Cavalry
Tomb of Vigilance Undead Pets 19 / 34 / 45 / 52 20 / 35 / 47 / 56 Dread Knights
Boreal Call Aga’Shoth Riders 14 / 25 / 33 / 38 15 / 26 / 35 / 42 Abyssal Envoys
Carrion Pile Locusts 30 / 50 / 65 / 75 34 / 54 / 70 / 82 Waurmos
Petrified Memorial Minotaurs 7 / 13 / 18 / 21 7 / 13 / 18 / 22 Medusae
Carrion Pile, a creature bank that grants Waurmos Tomb of Vigilance, a creature bank that grants Dread Knights Boreal Call, a creature bank that grants Abyssal Envoys
The three banks that grew the most: the Carrion Pile, the Tomb of Vigilance and Boreal Call.

The Carrion Pile grew the most: its largest roll is now five stacks of 82 Locusts, and its guard power went from 68,625 to 75,030. The Ritual Pyre and the Point of Balance keep their 0.82.06 guards.

The same hotfix eased the other 0.82.06 guard change: "The strength of external artifact guards on random maps is now reduced by 20% of the original values instead of 40%." Guarded artifacts are still easier than before 0.82.06, but not as cheap as 0.82.06 made them.

Battle-site guards start in the right place

Among 0.82.07's bug fixes: "Fixed a bug that changed the starting placement of guards in combat for objects with inner guards." The game files show how far that reaches. On 22 of the 27 battle sites, and 86 of their 104 possible rolls, the guard stacks now start on different hexes than they did under 0.82.06. Our one record from before that patch shows them going back: on the Abandoned Mansion's first roll, the two right-hand stacks start on the third and the ninth row again, as they did before 0.82.06, instead of in the corners.

The Abandoned Mansion's first roll with its battlefield opened: two guard stacks on the right flank and a Skeleton stack on the left, the player's deployment hexes in gold in the middle, and the Skeletons' turn-one reach in red
The Abandoned Mansion's first roll on build 26428102, in the OldenEra Companion's card: hover over a roll to open its battlefield, point at a stack for its stats and its reach on turn one.

Every battle-site page draws each roll's formation from the new files. The OldenEra Companion shows the same card in game when you point at the object.

Template changes

Six ranked templates changed, plus the two Outcast templates outside the rotation.

Jebus Cross

  • 0.82.07: "you once again need to hold the central town for 6 days to win." Patch 0.82.06 had cut the City Hold to five days. The count still restarts if the opponent retakes the town.
  • 0.82.08: "slightly reduced the weekly growth of the guards protecting the passages to the desert areas."

The Jebus Cross guide has the bank and hold plan with the new numbers.

Jebus Arena and Jebus Tournament

  • Jebus Arena, 0.82.07: "towns in the central area are now placed near the exits, as originally intended."
  • Both, 0.82.08: the same slower weekly growth for the guards on the passages to the desert areas as on Jebus Cross.

Blitz

Layout of the Blitz template: a lattice of areas around the two players' starting areas
Blitz, as the game's template picker draws it.
  • 0.82.07: "all faction creature dwellings on the template now have double starting growth."
  • 0.82.08: "the two guaranteed external creature dwellings in the starting area now appear near the road."

Both changes favour the town plan over the bank plan, while the banks got dearer. The Blitz guide weighs the two.

Sprint

Layout of the Sprint template: two zigzag chains of areas, one per player
Sprint: two zigzag chains of seven areas, one per player.

Sprint changed more than any other template.

  • 0.82.07: Heroes with the Pathfinder specialisation are no longer available. These are Leon Sticky‑Fingers, Eith and Ulkuth. The Scouting skill is available again, guards in both players' areas grow more slowly, and the Arborcopia no longer appears.
  • 0.82.08: The guards on the passages between areas are weaker, rivers are no longer generated, and the Mercenary Guild no longer appears. Pandora's Boxes with creatures are no longer placed behind the same guard as other objects. The town in the third area starts with a non-upgraded tier‑3 dwelling built, and the town in the fifth area with a tier‑5 one.

Those "towns" are Sprint's Abandoned Outposts, in areas 3, 5 and 7 of each chain: "Defeat its guard to transform this outpost into a city of your starting faction." With the Pathfinders gone, the template file now bans eight heroes, every one who starts with Logistics plus the three Pathfinders. Logistics and Siegecraft are still never offered on level-up. Scouting, with its Pathfinding and Leaps and Bounds perks, is the movement skill left. The Sprint guide has the full list and the new plan.

Vendetta, Jebus Outcast and Outcast Tournament

  • Vendetta, 0.82.08: fixed "a bug that significantly reduced the number of Pandora's Boxes in the desert areas."
  • Jebus Outcast and Outcast Tournament, 0.82.07: the same bug, fixed a hotfix earlier.

Computer opponents (0.82.08)

0.82.08 tunes how often AI heroes cast Global Map Spells, by difficulty:

Difficulty Main hero Secondary heroes
Easy never never
Normal at most once per game day never
Moderate at most once per game day at most once per game day
Hard and Multiplayer without restriction at most once per game day
Unfair without restriction without restriction

On every difficulty except Unfair and Multiplayer, the AI now learns Global Map Spells in a random order.

Interface and bug fixes

0.82.08:

  • In matchmaking, hovering over a template's name shows a tooltip with the template's image on the back of the card.
  • The match start screen looks slightly different.
  • During faction and hero selection, hovering over the template's name shows its information.
  • Fixed: after loading a saved game, the extra growth from captured external dwellings stopped reaching towns.
  • Fixed: a rare crash with certain combinations of spells.

0.82.07:

  • Fixed: the starting placement of guards in combat for objects with inner guards (above).
  • Fixed: the connection-loss window no longer appears behind the match start screen.
  • Fixed: a rare bug where the custom game window would not open if some files were corrupted.
  • Fixed: the reward descriptions of Pandora's Boxes that increase hero stats.
